Impressionism

For this project, your challenge is to select a work of art by one of the impressionist artists to recreate. Check out the slides presentation below to learn more about impressionist art:

Goals:

  • Learn a new painting technique and color theory by recreating a famous work of art.
  • Use short, choppy brush strokes to create work.
  • Create a composition displaying knowledge of color theory.

Check out the following links for artist work. You can either look off a screen or look through the printed versions I have in my desk.

For the purpose of this assignment, I will allow you to use a post-impressionism artist if you would like. The style of their work is much the same, however their work tied in emotion instead of merely light.

Construct meaningful interpretations, supported by evidence, of an artwork or collection of works through describing and analyzing feelings, subject matter, formal characteristics, artmaking approaches, contextual information, and key concepts.
