Tea Bowls

This project comes from Amaco Clay Company. I have completed this tutorial and really like it. It is pretty simple and will produce a nice pot. In order to use your time wisely for this project, consider making two or more of these bowls/cups.

Goals:

  • Follow complex steps to complete a project
  • Design and construct a textured design that defines your piece
  • Follow best practice rules to express your knowledge of the media when completing your piece.

Follow the instructions here to complete your tea bowl. When you are ready to add texture to the surface, I do have rollers, but there are so many other options for adding texture. Be creative. Use more than one method or try out some different ideas. If you are making more than one bowl, use a different technique for each bowl.

Texture making ideas:

  • doilies
  • plants/leaves/flowers
  • noodles
  • rollers
  • tools
  • shoe bottoms
  • screen
  • basically anything with texture can be used to create texture in clay!
