12 Inch Coil Pots

One of the few lessons I like to do every year is to challenge students to make 12 inch tall coil pots.  We talk about clay shrinkage and making sure to construct pots that are tall enough to still be 12 inches after they dry.  I, also, require them to add design elements to their pots in the form of spiral coils, ball, and small sculptures.

Little snail element from Sr. Jessica’s pot.  I couldn’t find an image of the entire pot.
